We are an ISTD school offering training for all from age 2 and a half through to adults. Students are seen as individuals and are encouraged to reach their own potential and fulfil their own goals. Students are able to partake in our accredited ISTD exams and have plenty of performance opportunities. Everyone is welcome, from those who just want to have fun, to those that want to master their skills. We look forward to hearing from you!
ABOUT LAUNCH ACADEMY OF DANCE
Founded in 2015 by Francesca Ainge & Amy Whearity, the academy was an extension of the many years of work the pair did within the community, whether in local schools and nurseries or gym and community settings. The academy was set up as a centre to hone the technique of the students, offering accredited exams through the ISTD and various performance opportunities. The school is proud to have an inclusive, welcoming feel where anyone is welcome and valued. The school maintains a 100 percent pass rate for our ISTD examinations. CECCHETTI CLASSICAL BALLET
One of the dance genres of the ISTD, Cecchetti Classical Ballet is part of a nationally and internationally recognised and validated society of teachers of dance. The Cecchetti method of Classical Ballet is an outstanding system of training for all, from the small child through to the vocational student, professional dancer, and future teacher.
Cecchetti Classical Ballet has a rich heritage and history. Enrico Cecchetti was one of the most important influences on the foundations of modern Classical Ballet training. He developed a method of training in the 19th Century that is as relevant today as it was when it was first created. His influence on British Ballet has been far reaching and resulted in the creation of The Cecchetti Society.
Cecchetti Classical Ballet offers examinations and qualifications for children, students and teachers that are nationally and internationally recognised for their excellence. Enjoyment is of prime importance for a young child beginning to dance and the Class Examinations and Performance Awards provide ideal opportunities for those attending classes for recreational purposes on a once a week basis.
For children wishing to study in greater depth, there are the more technically demanding Grade Examinations. In all the children's work, a steady build-up and safe practice are of great importance. The Major examinations for older students and those at vocational schools are soundly based on Cecchetti principles and provide strength and co-ordination, together with a quality of movement which is second to none.
The Cecchetti principles of training continue to produce outstanding artistic and technically accomplished dancers, able to work with today’s directors across a wide spectrum of ballet and contemporary companies.
ISTD MODERN THEATRE DANCE
Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style which originated in America before travelling to the rest of the world. It is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps, and turns which all need strength and flexibility. This is a highly energetic dance style.
JAZZ PERFORMANCE AWARDS
Performance driven and set to modern chart music, these fun classes are designed to develop style & technique. There are 3 Performance Awards in total- Bronze, Silver and Gold- examined by the ISTD. Open to students studying Modern Dance.
COMMERCIAL DANCE
A fun, energetic class designed for senior school aged students. What is commercial dance? Think music videos and background dancers.
MUSICAL THEATRE
From stage hits to disney classics, this class gives the students a chance to sing and act as well as dance to really enhance their story-telling skills.
